A letter from Peter Adams
Dear Poole Resident
Finally, the local government reorganization has been adopted and now Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) councils will be working together to ensure that the new larger Unitary Authority is in place by next May for the local elections.
A vital part of this process is the restructuring of the electoral wards. Attached below is detailed guidance on our response to the Boundary Commission draft recommendation.
The main improvements we would suggest are as follows:
- Creekmoor The existing boundaries should remain unchanged. The southern part of Broadstone should not be included. Upton Country Park does not have direct access from Oakdale and should therefore remain in Creekmoor.
- Oakdale The existing boundaries should remain unchanged and the ward should have 2 councillors. The Boundary Commission recommends including the area from Ringwood Road to Poole Park cricket ground, but this is naturally part of Parkstone.
- Newtown The Foxholes area to the north of Oakdale should remain in Newtown, with which it has strong social and transport links.
- Parkstone This ward should be expanded to have 3 councillors by absorbing the area from Ringwood Road to Poole Park cricket ground.
For fuller details, please see our guidance notes, the Borough of Poole "Have your say" page, and the Boundary Commission draft recommendations for the new electoral arrangements:

If you agree with us, please write to the Boundary Commission and help us get the best outcomes for Poole residents. The BC deadline for receipt of submissions is 27 August.
