BUDGET 2014/15 AGREEMENT
On Tuesday this week the budget for the next financial year was approved by Poole Council. This budget was based on sound Conservative principles it was balanced and the Government cuts of £4.2 million during 2014/15 are absorbed without affecting front line services. Highlights are :-
COUNCIL TAX – NO INCREASE for the 4th consecutive year.
FUNDING TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF APPRENTICESHIPS – an additional £150,000 was agreed.
NEW BUSINESS START UPS – help with new business start up in the retail sector, £50,000 made available.
YOUTH EMPLOYABILITY - 5 new schemes to help young people become ready for work.
POTHOLES - £150,000 additional funding to improve the condition of our roads. This follows an extensive survey which we sent to 4000 homes in Poole either by email or hand delivery. The overwhelming response of the residents was to have money invested in pothole repairs. We listened to your needs.
Poole still has the lowest band “D” council tax in Dorset.
Under the Conservative administration, it is the 11th year of no budgetary overspends.
