The busy stretch of Haven Road in Canford Cliffs Village has just had a new crossing installed at the request of local residents.
Conservative Canford Cliffs ward Councillor May Haines has deemed the new crossing outside Magna Mazda a great success.
She said councillors have been working for a long time to get the crossing installed following numerous requests from residents. This was funded by planning obligations monies to mitigate transport related issues.
This provides a safe crossing for those using the nearby bus stop as well as Ravine Road carpark without having to walk down to the only other crossing further down the road.
The community liaison contact for the siting and installation of this crossing was Reg Grimston. He is pleased that this was done as it has really improved safety for pedestrians as well as slowed down traffic through the village.
Cllr Haines says residents are really pleased with the new crossing: "The people I have spoken to have said they feel much safer crossing the road, especially those older residents who are a little slower."
